BISHOP ROMNEY’S DANGEROUS SCHEDULE TO KEEP

Now that Ed Morrissey of “Captain’s Quarters” blog fame has jumped “into the tank” with Rush, Laura Ingraham, the Ivy-tinged National Review and a host of other GOP paid media celebrities as shills for CITIZEN KANE 2008 -- a/k/a Mitt “Bain Capitalist” Romney’s self- financed “buyout” of the White House, – what should rank & file conservatives do?

Should we like sheep follow in behind “the clubby New York-Boston-Washington Ivy League golf & cocktail circuit?” (Remember “The Ivy League snobs simply can’t risk someone in power who didn’t matriculate at a selective Eastern college or who hasn’t genuflected to the REAL powers on Wall Street and Madison Avenue.”)

It’s not time to punt or cave or check our brains with the illegal aliens at the Romney Mansion (as have the aforementioned GOP celebrities).

It’s not time to overlook Mitt “the Flip’s” grotesque game of distorting his record and cynical pandering on social conservative issues.

It’s not time to forgive “Attack Ad Mitt” for his “Eleventh Commandment” indiscretions!

It’s not time to ignore Bishop Romney’s continuing uncompetitiveness with the Democrats!

No, the first thing is to read the following brilliant articles from folks that the Gucci Chameleon cannot buy:

1. What Limbaugh Hates about Reagan (and loves about Citizen Bishop Mitt “the Flip” Romney)

2. The Case for Mike Huckabee.

3. Romney Supported Quitting Iraq.

4. Mitt Romney’s No Economic Conservative.

The second thing is to think rationally about the McCain-Romney brouhaha over timetables in Iraq.

The bottom line is that “Taxsachusetts” Mitt would be a danger to our national security.

During the debate on the troop surge in Iraq, Bishop Romney favored a “secret timetable” for de facto surrender. In the debate, he openly and knowingly used the buzz word “timetable.” He didn’t stand up for our national security and the security of the Middle East as a whole, which now turns upon success in Iraq.

No, Citizen Mitt just wanted to set a secret bureaucratic cover scheme for pulling out and handing the region over to bloodthirsty Islamo-fascists.

In essense, Wheeler-Dealer Mitt wanted to cut a secret deal on a secret "timetable."

Harkening back to the trademark Bain Capital belt-tightening playbook, MBA Mitt wanted a secret plan to "fire" the Iraqis if they didn't shape up on his secret time schedule. (You can almost hear Romney drone "one more bad quarterly report and we're outathere!")

Kind of like “Vietnamization” but without the speeches. (And we all know how that one turned out). Didn’t Nixon have a “secret” plan during the 1968 election?

Romney’s comments are just the sort of nuanced nonsense one would expect from a patrician rookie politician from a wonkish background.

It’s also the kind of short-sighted, impatient, politically-motivated shallowness that will create bigger disaster in the region.

Certainly, Republicans and Americans as a whole are split on the wisdom of the Iraq War. But we are there now and we must win, no matter the cost. The stakes are too high to bank on “timetables” – secret or otherwise.

By the way, given the porous nature of the Executive Branch (and the State Department) –not to mention the potential for leaks from the Iraqi govenment, how long would Bishop Romney’s “secret timetable” have remained so? Once such a “secret” was leaked to the New York Times, the die would have been cast towards defeat.

John McCain is correct on this point – Romney’s comments aptly demonstrate that Mitt lacks the judgment necessary in a Commander-in-Chief.

Just remember, national security is nothing like taking over a company, firing the workers, off-shoring the jobs and then making a short-term “killing” in the market. War involves real killing. And if the right folks aren’t killed or neutralized first, more of our sons and daughters will end up dying as a result. War involves a sober, long-term view of strategic and tactical objectives. War requires discipline and resolve. Being a commander in wartime is no place for inexperienced, effete, politically-motivated flip-floppers like Willard Mitt Romney.

Mitt’s bottomless checkbook couldn’t buy us out of a jam if he gets it wrong.

Someone needs to break it to Bishop Romney that foreign policy isn't like an episode of "The Apprentice."
