BOYCOTT PROMPTS TEXAS-AREA FOMOCO DEALER PROTEST

Ford Motor Company boycott organizers have posted a copy of a letter from the Texas Ford Dealers Advertising Fund, Inc. that was allegedly sent to William Clay Ford, Jr. on June 23, 2006. The letter, in essence, begs FoMoCo to stop actively promoting the radical homosexual rights agenda through its adverstising dollars. See http://www.afa.net/fordtexasletter.asp
FoMoCo consistently maintains that the boycott has no effect on sales. Apparently its Texas dealers disagree.
Regardless of how one comes out on the ultimate issues, Ford's flip-flops, inability to arrive at a nuanced solution, and its decision to, in effect, "hang out" long-time Texas Ford dealer Jerry Reynolds--who last fall arranged a boycott-stopping compromise agreement with the 19-or-so conservative organizations supporting it--has been a public relations fiasco.
